If the Wireless mode is set to 11bgn or 11n only the speed on the Huawei drops to 4 Mbps, if it's set to 11bg it goes up to 15 Mbps I don't remember if it always worked like this, with the Zyxel it didn't happen because it hasn't got the Wireless N mode (it's B or G only, single antenna)

I managed to solve the issue by changing Wi-Fi frequency in the router settings. It was "auto" and I started to try different frequencies one by one. After switching to the next frequency I go to Wi-Fi settings in the phone and try to connect to the network. I tried 2 472 MHZ and it didn't work but the next frequency 2 467 MHz suddenly worked!
