4. skilliard7. • 3 yr. ago. It's not necessarily that GW2 bans for using a VPN, but rather, OP being on the same network that someone else is cheating on. For example, a hacker might use a VPN service to protect themselves against legal action or IP bans. OP then uses that same VPN server as the hacker, and gets caught up in a mass banning of SEA player here too, was having similar issues. It may be related to a fault in the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) undersea cable, and apparently the Asia America Gateway (AAG) is still not fixed from an earlier fault, resulting in difficulty for Asian gamers connecting to US servers.

A common source of problems is the level3 / telia gateway, between some people's ISP and the NCSoft data center. (By "between" I mean "several hops from either end".)
The only 2 working solutions seem to be these: 1) Pay for a VPN and play through it. Which can cause an account BAN, as I've read, and still doesn't guarantee to fix the problem. Paying for an external service to play a game I've already put money into seems pretty nuts to me. Anyone else having massive lag spikes and 2K+ ping in wvw? Some of our squad reported this as well. Usual relogging and router cycling has not changed anything. Did something break at EU Anet?
